Arthrotec Possible side effects
Seek medical attention right away if you notice any of the following symptoms of an allergic reaction: trouble breathing, hives or swelling of the tongue, throat, face or lips.
Stop taking Arthrotec and talk to your health care provider immediately if you notice serious side effects that include:
- Feelings of weakness, pain in the chest, slurring of the speech, trouble with balance or vision and shortness of breath
- Stools that are tarry, black or bloody
- Vomit that has the appearance of coffee grounds or coughing up blood
- Rapid weight gain or swelling
- Increase of blood pressure often identified by blurring vision, trouble with concentration, pain in the chest, severe headaches, numbness and seizure
- Pain in the upper stomach, dark urine, loss of appetite, itching, jaundice, clay colored stools or nausea
- Feelings of light headedness, shortness of breath, pale skin, trouble concentrating and rapid heartbeat
- Severe tingling, pain, numbness, bruising and weak muscles
- Stiffness in the neck, increased light sensitivity, chills, seizure, purple spots on the skin
What you need to know about this medication
Arthrotec has the potential to cause premature labor, miscarriage, birth defects and can rupture the uterus if you take this medication while pregnant. There is also the potential for birth defects when taken in the last trimester of a pregnancy. You should not take this medication if you're pregnant. Talk to your doctor immediately if you're being treated with this medication and become pregnant. While you're taking Arthrotec you should use reliable birth control.
Arthrotec has the potential to cause circulation or heart issues that can be life threatening. These include strokes or heart attacks, and can become more common if you've been taking it for a long time. You should not take this medication immediately before or after bypass surgery on the heart.
