How It Works
Amlodipine is one of the active ingredients in AZOR. It belongs to the class of medications that work to block the calcium channels in the body. This medication works to slow the rate that calcium is moved into the blood vessel walls and the heart. This allows blood vessels to relax and can improve the flow of the blood. Once this happens, the blood pressure drops. This medication also is effective at allowing the heart to work less hard while pumping blood.
Possible Side Effects
As is the case with all medications, there is a risk for side effects while taking AZOR. Not everyone that takes this medication will notice side effects as it is generally well tolerated. If you do notice side effects they are most often mild and usually require little or no treatment. Other side effects that are more serious are less commonly reported.
