The medication maker
Eli Lilly and Company is the maker of Cialis.
Cialis Uses
Cialis has been approved to help with the symptoms of ED. Ed is also called impotence and can cause a man to not be able to get an erection or be able to get one only occasionally. ED can also cause men to be able to maintain only short erections. Basically, ED is a constant inability to get an erection or keep it firm enough to have sexual intercourse.
Cialis was also recently approved to treat the symptoms found with enlarged prostate.
What it does
Cialis works to block the chemicals that block erections by letting blood leave the penis. An increase in the amount of blood in your penis will improve the quality of your erections. For those that have symptoms of an enlarged prostate, Cialis might work to relax the prostate and bladder.
When it begins to work
The amount of time that it takes for this medication to become effective will depend on each person that takes it. Clinical studies have found that this medicine could start to work in just a half hour. Most men find that it starts to work in about an hour. Cialis has also been found to be effective for as long as 36 hours after you've taken a dose. If you have bladder problems caused from an enlarged prostate, the benefits should start within a few days of your first dose and get even better with more time. When dealing with bladder function, it can take anywhere from four to eight weeks to see full results.
Secondary Cialis Effects
As can happen when taking any medication, there is the potential for secondary effects while taking Cialis. Not all that take this medication will have side effects. Most men do quite well while taking Cialis. Most of the time, if secondary effects do develop they are usually minor and will likely not require treatment.
Most of the commonly reported secondary issues include:
- Pain in the back
- Headache
- Muscle pain
- Indigestion
- Flushing of the face
- Nasal congestion
- Pain in the legs and/or arms
Those who have significant risk factors for heart disease or that have cardiovascular disease should know that the chance for serious issues related to the blood vessels, heart and brain increases while taking this medication. These issues can cause serious side effects that include stroke, heart attack and even sudden death.
Generic forms of Cialis
At this time, there is no generic form of Cialis on the market in United States legally.
