Addiction to Demerol
As is the case with other types of opioid drugs, Demerol could cause an addiction or physical dependence. It is thought that Demerol is likely to be more habit forming than other kinds of prescription opioids, and it may be due to the fact that it works so quickly. Keep in mind that addiction and dependence are two separate medical problems. Being dependent on a drug is when your body depends on it to feel normal. This can cause a person to suffer from symptoms of withdrawal if the medication is stopped. Addiction is a mental or emotional reaction to a drug, and can be identified by the almost compulsive use of substances or drugs, even though the user knows there are negative and/or dangerous effects.
