How It Works
Effexor belongs to the class of medications called SNRIs. These medications block the reabsorption of the norepinephrine and serotonin in the brain to create a better balance. These chemicals are used to transmit message between nerve cells.
Possible Side Effects
As is the case with all medications, there is the potential for side effects. Not everyone that takes this medication will notice side effects and when they are noticed, they are usually mild and require little or no treatment. Less commonly reported are side effects that are more serious.
Some commonly reported side effects include dry mouth, headache, drowsiness, nausea, nervousness, insomnia, weakness of the body, sweating and loss of appetite.
