Exelon Oral Uses
Be sure to read the leaflet of patient information if your pharmacist gives it to you before you decide to begin taking rivastigmine and every time you receive a refill. If you find you have questions, you should talk to your pharmacist or doctor.
This medication should be taken orally with food like your doctor directs, most of the time twice a day: once in the evening and once in the morning. Your dosage will depend on the condition you have and how well you respond to the treatment. In order to reduce the risk of side effects such as diarrhea and nausea, it's likely that your doctor will start you out with a low dose and slowly increase it over a period of two to four weeks. Keep in mind that maximum adult recommended dosage is 6mg two times a day.
It's important that you take this medication every day so that you can have the optimal results from taking it. You can remember more easily when you take it at the same times daily. You should not stop taking this medication unless your doctor specifically tells you to. You should never take this medication more than it's prescribed.
If you have not taken your rivastigmine for three days in a row or more, you should call your doctor before you begin taking it again as you may need to get started on a lower dose again.
Be sure to let your doctor know if your condition becomes worse.
Potential Side effects with Exelon Oral
Some of the commonly reported side effects might include: weight loss, loss of appetite, vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, dizziness, weakness, tremor and drowsiness. These usually occur as your body becomes used to the medication and usually fade with time. If these side effects continue or become worse, you should talk to your pharmacist or doctor right away.
Keep in mind that your health care provider has chosen to give you this medication because he or she feels that the benefits far out weight the side effects. Not everyone taking this medication will have side effects.
