Indocin, active ingredient indomethacin, is a medication that is available only by prescription. It is used for the treatment of inflammation, swelling, fever, pain, and stiffness. It belongs to the class of medications called NSAIDs.

Uses
Indocin has been approved for the treatment of symptoms associated with osteoarthritis, gout, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and pain in the shoulder due to bursitis or tendonitis.
It should be notied that Indocin does not slow the progression or cure arthritis.
Possible Side Effects
As with all medications, there is the potential for side effects while taking Indocin. Not everyone that takes this medication will notice side effects. If you do notice side effects, they are most often mild and require little or no treatment.
Commonly reported side effects include: heartburn and/or indigestion, vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, dizziness, constipation, excessive feelings of tiredness, ringing in the ears, depression, swelling and fatigue.
