Metadate CD - What is it?
Metadate CD, active ingredient methylphenidate extended-release, is a medication that is available only by prescription. It is used to treat ADHD. The capsules have been specially developed to release on 30% of the medicine right away, while the remaining 70% is slowly dissolved to give the medication a long lasting, once daily dosage. Since Metadate CD contains stimulant medications that are often abused, there are laws governing the prescribing and distribution of this medication.

Metadate CD - How Does it Work?
Although Metadate CD contains medication that is a stimulant, the effects on a person with ADHD are the opposite. Stimulants such as caffeine have the tendency to cause children to become hyper, but this medication provides a feeling of calm. It isn't exactly known how this happens, but it has been established that Metadate CD works with certain brain chemicals.
Capsules of this medication are made up of little beads. The first 30% will immediately release the medication and the remaining 70% will dissolve slowly so that the medication only needs to be administered once a day.
Effects Of Metadate CD
Clinical studies on teen agers and children who were aged six to 15 and had ADHD treated with Metadate CD have shown significant improvements on behavior over those with the condition that did not take this medicine. Teachers reported fewer symptoms of ADHD in the teens and children that took the medication. There have been no studies of adults and Medadate CD (visit Adults and Metadate).
