Norvasc Uses
This drug has been approved for several different purposes. The uses include treating hypertension , coronary artery disease - also called heart disease. Heart disease might also include chest pain that is called angina, which will include exertional angina or exercise induced angina, as well as variant angina.
How It Works
Norvasc belongs to the class of medications that block the calcium channels. It works to slow the rate that calcium moves to the heart and walls of the blood vessels. This will then help to relax the blood vessels to allow blood to flow better and the blood pressure can go down. This also makes pumping blood easier for the heart.
Norvasc Side Effects
As is the case with all medications, there is the potential for side effects while taking Norvasc. Not everyone that takes this medication will notice side effects as it is generally well tolerated. If you do notice side effects, they are most often mild and usually require little or no treatment. Other side effects that are more serious are less commonly reported.
Some of the commonly reported side effects might include: retaining water, feeling that your heart is beating forcefully or rapidly, dizziness, fatigue, nausea, abdominal pain, flushing and drowsiness.
