What it does
Roxicet is made up of two active ingredients: Oxycodone hydrochloride and acetaminophen. These ingredients work to help ease pain. Oxycodone is an opioid, narcotic analgesic that is similar to codeine. Oxycodone helps to decrease pain and ease coughing, but it can also decrease breathing and cause drowsiness.
Acetaminophen is an analgesic that also reduces fever. It is often found in over the counter medicines like Tylenol. APAP is the chemical acronym for acetaminophen. When acetaminophen is combined with Oxycodone it helps to make both of the medications work together to be a more effective pain reliever while also reducing the potential for abuse of Roxicet.
