Vicoprofen - an overview
Hydrocodone belongs to the class of medicines known as narcotic pain medications. Ibuprofen is an NSAID and works to reduce the hormone levels that cause the body to experience inflammation and pain. Combining hydrocodone with ibuprofen can be effective at easing pain that is severe for the short term. This pain medication is not meant to treat pain from arthritis.

Secondary effects
You should seek immediate medical care if you notice any allergic reaction signs that include:
- Trouble breathing
- Hives
- Swelling of the throat, tongue, lips or face
Call your health care provider immediately if you notice any serious secondary effects that include:
- Slurring of the speech, trouble with balance or vision
- Weakness, chest pain or shortness of breath
- Numbness or weakness that is sudden, confusion or headache
- Tarry or bloody stools, vomit that has the appearance of coffee grinds or coughing up blood
- Rapid weight gain or swelling
- Slowed heartbeat or shallow breathing
- Fainting
- Bleeding or bruising easily
- Stomach pain, dark urine, nausea, loss of appetite
- Itching, jaundice, clay colored stools
- Skin rash that is red, blistering or peeling
- Stiffness of the neck, chills, fever, increased light sensitivity
- Purple spots on the skin
- Seizure
Possible interactions
While taking this medication, you should not take aspirin, CNS depressants or drink alcohol. This medication may react with tricyclic antidepressants or MAOIs. This medication can increase the levels of serum lithium and bleeding with anti-clotting medications. This medication also has the potential to increase the risk of renal failure while taking diuretics and ACE inhibitors.
If you suspect an overdose
If you think that you have overdosed on this medication, you should seek immediate medical attention. The overdose symptoms can include: cold/clammy skin, disorientation, blurring vision, loss of consciousness, decreased urination, coma, severe sleepiness of dizziness, ringing in the ears, severe weakness of the muscles, severe stomach pain and nausea, unusual bruising or bleeding, trouble breathing, vomit that has the appearance of coffee grounds.
