Voltaren, active ingredient diclofenac sodium, is part of the class of medications known as NSAIDs. It is used to help reduce swelling, inflammation, stiffness and pain that many types of arthritis can cause.

Voltaren Uses
The uses for this medication include relieving symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, pain, swelling and stiffness that accompany osteoarthritis, as well as the long and short term symptoms of ankylosing spondylitis.
This medication cannot cure this kind of arthritis and it does not help to slow the progress of these conditions.
Possible Side Effects of Voltaren
As is the case with all medications, it is possible to experience side effects while taking Voltaren. Not everyone that takes this medication will notice side effects. If you do have side effects, they are most often minor and require little or no treatment.
Commonly reported side effects might include: diarrhea, stomach pain, heartburn and/or indigestion, constipation and gas.
