Vytorin - what is it?
Vytorin, active ingredient ezetimibe/simvastatin, is a medication that is available by prescription only to treat high triglycerides and high cholesterol. It contains a combination of the medications called Zetia, which works to inhibit the cholesterol; as well as Zocor, which belongs to the class of medications known as statins.

How It Works
Vytorin contains two active ingredients: ezetimibe and simvastatin. Simvastatin works to block the enzyme that controls how much cholesterol the liver makes. It helps the liver to gather and get rid of more bad cholesterol, as well as helping to reduce how much cholesterol the liver makes.
Possible Side Effects
Most of the common side effects that are thought to be caused from this medication include: muscle pain, upper respiratory infections, diarrhea and headache.
