Benefits
Niaspan does its work and definitely lowers cholesterol level. Moreover, it also has improved the amount of my good cholesterol compared to the bad one. Though I was on a very restricted diet even before starting the medicine but that alone was not helpful in reducing the high cholesterol.
Side Effects
In the beginning, there was extreme flushing and burning of skin and itching in the whole body especially my arms. However, it was expected as my doc had already briefed me about it. He prescribed a small aspirin dose to be taken 30 to 40 minutes prior to Niaspan. That helped but not to a great extent and I still had trouble sleeping. Then on someone’s advice, I started taking vitamin C that really took care of the side effects.
