Benefits
Niaspan has helped steadily lower my triglyceride levels. The most recent level was 160 (from 240!). I feel, the benefits, my life, certainly outweigh the side effects. As long as I continue to see my triglyceride levels drop, I will put up with not eating foods I enjoy, exercising (I hate to exercise!), and the occasional Niaspan flushes.
Side Effects
The flushing and general sensation of sunburn all over my body happens on occasion. A friend told me she takes 500 mg of vitamin C with the Niaspan to stop the tingling and flushes. That did not work well for me. I have learned if I keep to the low-fat diet it does not seem to happen as often.
