Adderall Dosage

 
Adderall dosage levels will vary from one person to the next. Your healthcare provider will prescribe the best dosage for you. This will depend on several factors: your age, medical history, medical condition, medications that you may be currently taking etc. Generally, Adderall dosage levels for the treatment of ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder ) are no more than about 40 mg per single day. The dosage for adults who have narcolepsy is generally 5 mg and 60 mg per single day. The first daily dose of Adderall is best taken in the morning.
 

Dosage for ADHD

In children who are between 3 and 5, Adderall is usually started at 2.5 mg daily. This dosage may be increased by the doctor at the rate of 2.5 mg daily per every week but only if needed.
 
Children 6 and older, Adderall dosage can be started at 5 mg which is taken once or twice daily. This standard dose may be increased by the doctor by 5 mg per week but only if it is needed. For most cases, the dosage should not exceed 40 mg per day. The first dose should be taken in the morning. For those taking Adderall two or more times daily, the next dose is usually after four to six hours.
 

Adderall Dosage Level for Narcolepsy

When using Adderall for adults who have narcolepsy, the usual dose is between 5 and 60 mg a day. This is divided into two or more doses. For children age 6-12, the narcolepsy dose starts at 5 mg daily. The doctor may increase this by 5 mg each week if he or she feels it is necessary. Anyone 12 years old and older is usually started with a 10 mg per day dose of Adderall. This may be increased by the doctor at a rate of 10 mg a week, should it be needed.
