Lortab Side Effects

Dizziness, nausea and constipation are just a few of the side effects that are more commonly reported for people taking Lortab. Most of the time, these side effects are not major. However, some of these effects are possibly serious and could require medical attention right away. Tell your doctor if you experience any serious side effects when taking Lortab including extreme drowsiness, difficulty urinating and anxiety.

The Basics of Lortab Side Effects

As with all medications, Lortab or hydrocodone/APAP has been found to have some side effects. Not all people who are taking this medicine will notice any issues at all. It has been found that most people being treated with Lortab do very well and if there are side effects, they are mostly minor and don't require any treatment at all. If side effects do need to be treated, it is most often easy to do.

(While this article discusses many of the potential side effects of Lortab, it does not cover all of them. Your doctor can give you a better idea of more of the side effects of Lortab.)

Frequently Reported Lortab Side Effects

Some of the more frequently reported side effects of Lortab can include:

  • Lightheadedness
  • Dizziness
  • Nausea that may include vomiting
  • Constipation
  • Weakness
  • Extreme sleepiness
  • Loss of appetite

Many people will say that they have an allergy to Lortab when they vomit or feel nausea if they take this medication. Since this is a fairly common side effect, it doesn't mean that you are allergic to it. Much of the time, this symptom goes away as a person takes Lortab for a longer time. Making sure to take this drug with food has been found to cut the chances that you'll suffer from vomiting or nausea.

Lortab Side Effects - Final Thoughts

You might notice some of the listed side effects while taking Lortab, or you may find that you have none of the side effects. There is no way that your doctor can know if you will experience side effects of this medication before you try it, so it's important that you tell your doctor right away if you experience any of the side effects or if something feels "off" to you. These feelings may not be side effects, but your doctor can diagnose the problem and treat it should it be necessary.
