If you take Percocet 2.5/325 mg, the normal recommended dosage is one to two pills every six hours if required. In those instances where people build up a tolerance to Percocet, or when people are suffering from severe pain, larger doses may be required. - Percocet may cause an upset stomach; therefore, it is recommended you take it with meals.
- You can take Percocet on a scheduled dose or alternatively "as needed". Scheduled dosage refers to taking the medication at a designated time regardless of feeling pain or not. Whereas, taking the medication "as needed' refers to taking the recommended daily dose only when pain occurs. Your doctor will most likely prescribe the drug as needed.
- It is important the recommended Percocet dose is not exceeded as Percocet Overdose symptoms, liver failure and acetaminophen poisoning are all potential risks.
- Taking Percocet can cause constipation, so you may need to take a laxative in conjunction with your dose to relieve any symptoms.
- Percocet medication must be taken exactly as prescribed for it to be effective. Unless specified by your treating physician, do not alter your dosage or the frequency of the drug. In addition, do not suddently stop your dose of Percocet, especially if you have used the medication for more than a month.
